Blizzard's 'Overwatch' League gets its first European team

Blizzard revealed two more teams participating in its upcoming Overwatch League: one team representing London and a second team representing Los Angeles.

Today's reveal brings the total number of confirmed teams in the Overwatch League to nine and introduces the first team representing a city in Europe. It also shows that, just like the NBA and MLB, more than one team can be based in a single city.

The owner of the London team is Jack Etienne, co-founder and CEO of the esports team organization Cloud9, with successful teams in League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and Overwatch, and players in fighting games. Most Cloud9 teams and players are billed out of the U.S., so Etienne's purchase of the London spot is a bit of a departure from the organization's North American beginnings. Read more...
