Postal Service holds ribbon-cutting for new Tioga office

A ribbon-cutting held Thursday for the new Tioga Post Office, located in the former Hegstad Furniture building, marked an important achievement for the city, Mayor Drake McClelland said.

“It was nice that this came available at the time it did and we got to keep the post office downtown,” McClelland said.

Appreciation for the ability to maintain downtown mailing services in Tioga was the prevailing sentiment both for McClelland and for Doug Stephens, manager of the U.S. Postal Services’ Dakotas District.

“To me, it’s huge, especially in rural America,” Stephens said.
